Light Town receives IDPADA-G’s intervention with open arms

The sleepy farming community of Light Town on the East Bank of the Berbice River came alive on October 7, 2018 when the International Decade for People of African Descent Assembly Guyana took the hours- long drive to meet with residents of the community and its environs. The meeting was held at the Light Town Primary School which also received a power inverter donated by the IDPADA-G to assist with its energy situation.

Residents who engage in various forms of farming expressed concerns in transporting their produce to markets since they had no means of doing so. They spoke about getting their produce to markets where they are able to receive better prices since retail farmers with transportation are purchasing their goods at “giveaway” prices. Various agencies were made available to render the necessary services
