IDPADA-G launches Credit Union

The International Decade for People of African Descent Assembly Guyana Cooperative Credit Union Society Limited was launched on Saturday 6 July, 2019 at the Critchlow Labour College, Woolford Avenue Georgetown. The event saw hundreds of persons attending for the quick and easy process of signing up. They paid $1000 and became full members of the newly formed organisation.
IDPADA-G’s head office is reached on 227-7848 for signing up with the organisation. The Credit Union will soon being making its ways around the country to meet African Guyanese people wherever they are and to encourage them to support this great cause.

The IDPADA-G honoured to pay special tribute to 1763 Rebellion with Ghana’s President

His Excellency President of the Republic of Ghana, Mr Akufo-Addo laid a floral tribute at the 1763 Monument at the Square of the Revolution. He was escorted by Mr. Vincent Alexander, Chairman of the International Decade of People of African Descent Assembly Guyana. The African Leader’s two day state visit to Guyana saw the signing of bilateral agreements for cooperation in a number of areas. The two countries, among other things, agreed on visa free travel between nations.

   

IDPADA-G took mega conference to Sophia

 

The Sophia Primary School hosted the International Decade for People of African Descent Assembly-Guyana’s second mega Business and Welfare Conference which attracted just over 500 persons On February 3, 2019. Again, the body brought free health care services, this time to the Sophia community and surrounding areas. Free housing and business registration forms were available. Passport and birth certificate forms as well as assistance in filling out the documents.

The attention of young persons was brought to various training institutions that were aiding in career choices and professions. Other persons who were in need of welfare services which included assistance for a child or other family members with disabilities, ailments and so on were able to access representatives from the relevant agencies.

Business persons were also able to get the relevant information and assistance to grow their establishment or increase production of goods and services. Various tests were available where free medical care was provided and a dispensary available for prescriptions.

 

The IDPADA-G’s mega Business and Welfare Conference launched at Dolphin Secondary School

The International Decade for People of African Descent Assembly –Guyana kicked of its regular countrywide conferences with a big bang in 2019, hosting its first mega “Business and Family Welfare” conference to be repeated in strategic locations across the country throughout the year.

The agency’s first mega conference was held at the Dolphin Secondary School at Broad Street on January 27, 2019 and the idea was to increase the number of services available to those being served. This included assisting persons in accessing necessary documents, personal and otherwise. The IDPADA-G was also able to bring free health and other welfare services to the people.

Numerous attendees, particularly senior persons were able to access free medical services and medication within a relatively short period of time. They were able to have various tests and other inspections done.

Hundreds of persons were also able to apply for birth certificates for the first time while others were able to replace damaged or misplaced documents. They were able to make first time applications or replace expired passports, register their business or replace expired certificates. Attendees got forms to apply for TIN certificates, and free forms to apply to housing authorities in pursuit of their own homes.

The IDPADA-G helped persons with business plans and ideas, while attendees were able to set up appointments and other follow up services with agencies providing the services they needed.

  

 

Ann’s Grove farmers deemed IDPADA-G’s service necessary

Residents in the East Coast village of Ann’s Grove received vital information from government agencies that deal specifically with crop production and animal raring. This is the dominating trade in the community which has done pretty well for itself in this regard. When the International Decade for People of African Descent Assembly Guyana took their services to the location farmers were concerned mainly about diseases and other such issues affecting their animals and plants. The farmers wanted to know how they could receive material to increase and grow their businesses since they noted that their community was flooded with what they produce and farmers were seeking additional markets for their goods. Some 260 persons attended the Ann’s Grover outreach and were able to speak with representatives from the agricultural sector in particular and other related agencies. Many food vendors also got assistance on how they can improve their businesses financially, in adhering to health regulations, registration among other benefits.The event was held on November 10, 2018.

Wismar, Linden welcomed the IDPADA-G

New Silver City Secondary School in the mining Town of Linden saw scores of persons coming to get farming and business advice when the International Decade for People of African Descent Assembly-Guyana took their outreach to residents living in that location. The outreach was held on October 27, 2018 and saw predominately farmers and small business owners requiring certain information about business and crop production. The IDPADA-G was able to bring representatives from the government’s fisheries department, crops and other services relevant to the needs of the attendees. Almost 200 persons attended.

Light Town receives IDPADA-G’s intervention with open arms

The sleepy farming community of Light Town on the East Bank of the Berbice River came alive on October 7, 2018 when the International Decade for People of African Descent Assembly Guyana took the hours- long drive to meet with residents of the community and its environs. The meeting was held at the Light Town Primary School which also received a power inverter donated by the IDPADA-G to assist with its energy situation.

Residents who engage in various forms of farming expressed concerns in transporting their produce to markets since they had no means of doing so. They spoke about getting their produce to markets where they are able to receive better prices since retail farmers with transportation are purchasing their goods at “giveaway” prices. Various agencies were made available to render the necessary services

    

Belladrum meets with the IDPADA-G’s team

On October 5, 2018 a group of fishermen, farmers of various types and a number of cottage industry producers engaged members of the International Decade for People of African Descent Assembly Guyana and various government and private agencies that were interested in helping them grow their businesses and increase the products they were growing. Special breakout sessions occurred at the St. Albans Anglican Church Belladrum where the event was being held. Almost 200 persons benefited from the outreach. Attendees also received free soursop and lemon plants on the occasion of National Tree Planting Day.
